Talk by Rachel Everett-Fry
This talk will involve the presentation and discussion of a work-in-progress paper by Rachel Everett-Fry, PhD Candidate in Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge.
The paper traces earthworms through the 19th century works of Charles Darwin to the forests of Eastern Ontario today, demonstrating the entanglements of these creatures with human life and imperial projects. In taking up how Natural History accounts for the earthworm, I develop anthropomorphism as a concept for thinking in terms other than those of the cartesian split or the ontological turn.
